Rochester police on Tuesday afternoon released redacted body camera footage of last week’s fatal shooting at the Family Dollar Store on West Main Street.

The video was blurred in certain areas to cover faces of people in the store and the suspect who was shot when he allegedly traded gunfire with police. View video below:

New information was released along with the video. The RPD says officers were called to the store by an employee who called from a back room to say an armed robbery was underway and a store employee was being held at gunpoint. Officers walked in and encountered the suspect, identified as Simran Gordon. Gunfire was exchanged, and evidence so far shows that Gordon fired at least one shot from his handgun. He was struck by police gunfire and died of his injuries.

Police did not at first attempt to render first aid to Gordon until they secured the scene and made sure no other suspects were in the store.

The entire incident is under investigation by the New York State Attorney General’s Office.
