The Rochester Police Department is reviewing the conduct of an investigator whose child was reported missing during a Thanksgiving party in Greece, only to be found safe — but alone — at home. Investigator Jeff McIntee has been suspended with pay during that investigation
Dozens of first responders mounted a search for the three-year-old after he was reported missing from the house where the party was held. He was eventually found home in bed. Greece Police Chief Patrick Phelan says a neighbor’s security camera showed the investigator leading his son down the driveway. He says McIntee confirmed that was him on the tape, but said he couldn’t remember taking his son out of the house or taking him home.
The tape doesn’t show the father getting in a car or driving, and Phelan says there’s no proof that he drove the child home while he was drunk. He says the parents appeared appeared intoxicated and were uncooperative, but suspicion isn’t probable cause.
Meantime, Police Chief Michael Ciminelli says he’s still adding up the cost of police overtime overtime during the search for the child.
The investigator has not been charged with a crime….but Police sources told WHAM 1180’s Bob Lonsberry the investigator apparently drove the child home, then drove back to the party and forgot about it.
