The City of Rochester is establishing a Deputy Chief of Community Relations in its police department, a new position that will seek to forge new connections between the RPD and the people it serves.

Mayor Lovely Warren and Police Chief Michael Ciminelli announced that Deputy Chief Wayne Harris will move into the new job.

At the same time, Lt. Mark Simmons will be promoted to Deputy Chief and head the department’s  Administration Bureau.  Lt. Henry Favor will move from Command of Lake Section’s first platoon to take Simmons’ post as head of the Professional Standards Section.
Mayor Warren says Deputy Chief Harris will develop new initiatives to “fully engage every corner” of the Rochester community. With strained relationships between police and citizens in cities nationwide, Warren says the city is investing in building trust between police and community in Rochester.
