Supporters of physician-assisted suicide in New York have reintroduced their Medical Aid in Dying Act in Albany.
Assembly and State Senate members supporting the bill were supported by Susan Rahn of Rochester, a young mother diagnosed with terminal stage four breast cancer. Rahn said she wants the death with dignity law to give her peace of mind, so she knows she won’t have to suffer in her final weeks once her medical options run out.
Six other states have authorized doctors to help patients who want to end their lives because of terminal diseases.
