A Rochester woman has been charged with grand larceny, insurance fraud and defrauding the worker’s compensation system.

The New York State Inspector General says Valerie Everett of Lyell Avenue stole more than $34,000 by claiming a fall outside the fast food restaurant where she worked had left her disabled. That happened in 2002, and Everett collected workers comp after suffering knee and leg injuries.

But the state says Everett kept on collecting benefits long after she was well, and claimed to be disabled while working at two different jobs over the years. Meanwhile, she kept filing paperwork that said she wasn’t employable.

She’s been arraigned in City Court.
