Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren is proposing to extend property tax waivers for city residents who buy homes downtown.
The city offers partial property tax exemptions for people who buy the new downtown condominiums or other owner-occupied housing units in the Center City. The mayor’s legislation would extend that program for another five years.
The exemptions are realized through a PILOT agreement with COMIDA, the Monroe County industrial development agency. The current exemption deal expires in May.
Thirty-five units have been completed under that agreement.
