A 15-year-old Rochester boy has pleaded “guilty” to second degree homicide in last summer’s shooting death of Jit Mongar. Kahlil Nelson will be sentenced to seven-years-to-life as a juvenile offender when he’s brought back into court on September 14th.
Mongar was a Nepalese refugee and father of seven children. He was fatally shot when Nelson and two other city teenagers tried to rob him as he came out of a store on Lake Avenue. Nelson, who was 14 at the time, was the alleged shooter.
The other teens, 16-year-old Kamron Campbell and 18-year-old Le’Sean Foucha, have pleaded “not guilty” to second degree murder charges.
