The Rochester City School Board on Tuesday night adopted a more than $983 million budget for the upcoming school year.
Superintendent Dr. Lesli Myers-Small says it prioritizes high quality education, resources for English language learnings and students with disabilities and social and emotional health.
Myers-Small acknowledged the contentious budget process in which community and board members expressed concern over lack of transparency in how the budget was achieved. Three board members voted “no” on the budget: Camille Simmons, Amy Maloy and Beatriz LeBron. LeBron, the board vice president, said anyone should be able to open the budget and see how dollars are being spent to serve students.
