Rochester officials met with Kim Pegula and Russ Brandon of the Sabres today, offering them a seat at the table as the city plans upgrades to the Blue Cross-War Memorial Arena.
The Sabres declined to play a game at the Blue Cross this coming season because it doesn’t meet NHL standards. Mayor Lovely Warren met with the team officials at Bills Camp in Pittsford today…then told 13 WHAM the city needs a lasting partnership so the arena is upgraded in a way that meets the needs of the primary tenants, the Rochester Amerks and the Sabres.
Both the City Administration and Amerks/Sabres organization agreed to work with SMG and to move the Blue Cross upgrade forward. The state has put up $10 million to get the process started.
