The CEO of the Greater Rochester Enterprise is moving on from the Flower City.

Mark Peterson has headed the GRE’s regional economic development team for eight years. He’s now taking a new position as president and CEO of Intersect Illinois, a nonprofit agency that serves as the lead business recruitment and marketing organization for for all of Illinois.

GRE pioneered a regional approach to locating business in the nine-county around Rochester, coordinating development efforts to benefit all rather than having each county fight for what it could get. The approach has brought companies including Barilla America, Brand Networks and Pride Pak to the region, along with hundreds of jobs.

Greater Rochester Enterprise  Board Chair Anne Kress says GRE’s Chief Operating Officer Matt Hurlbutt will take over the agency for now while the board considers its next move.

Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce President Bob Duffy says Peterson has done outstanding work for the region and they wish him the best.
