City Hall announced late this afternoon that the July 15th deadline for submitting RFPs to the city for developing Midtown Parcel 5 is being extended. Potential bidders asked for more time because a consultant’s report commissioned by the city on the feasibility of a Rochester performing arts center isn’t being delivered until tomorrow (Friday).

Mayor Warren issued a new call for proposals on the last undeveloped part of the old Midtown site last month. At that time she said neither of the proposals the city had in hand would do enough to create a vibrant downtown. One was for a combined casino and performing arts center from the Seneca Indian Nation…and the other was for a stand-alone performing arts center.

Warren says a committee will be set up to review and rank all proposals for developing the land on Main Street and pick the best one. The city wants to sell that lot for a million dollars and would prefer some sort of mixed use development.
