Rochester Police have made an arrest in the beating of a transgender man last month. They’ve charged 24-year-old Rashad Turner of Rochester with Assault in the Second Degree as a Hate Crime.
Police say Turner was one of the men who approached two other men outside a convenience store on Denver Street near Parsells Avenue. A 30-year-old was allegedly harassed by Turner, who yelled at him about being transgender, before attacking him.
The victim was injured and taken to Rochester General Hospital with head and facial injuries that required surgery.
