Rochester Police are investigating a robbery and a burglary in the city overnight.

Officers were called to Garfield Street at 9:15 p.m. for a report of a 31-year-old city woman who was approached by two men who stole her purse and cellphone. The men fled on bicycles.

A short time later, a Genesee Section officer spotted two men with bikes at Arnett Boulevard and Rugby Avenue. One ran from the officer on foot and was caught. The other fled on his bike until he crashed into a patrol car at Arnett Boulevard and Normandy Street. He wasn’t injured and was taken into custody. Police are still working to determine if the two men are the suspects from the earlier robbery.

Late last night, police were called when a burglar alarm went off at Warren’s Pharmacy on Jefferson Avenue.

They found someone had rammed a vehicle into a wall, putting a hole through it which allowed the burglars to get in. There was no one in the building when police got there, and they’re working with pharmacy staff to determine if anything was taken.
