Rochester police say two men arrested over the weekend when they were caught during the middle of a break-in may be linked to a number of commercial burglaries around the area.

Police charged 44-year-old Miguel Escalante and 46-year-old O’Neal Emerson, both of Whitney Street, with burglary, criminal mischief and possession of burglary tools. Escalante was also charged in connection with three other burglaries and taken to jail based on his past arrest record. Emerson was released on his own recognizance.

Police say a K9 officer patrolling on Buffalo Road was alerted to a glass break detector going off at the Kwik Fill station at 336 Buffalo Road. He caught the two burglars behind the station near a broken window, and saw them with stolen property in their hands.

Both suspects ran, but were caught by the K9 dog and other responding officers after a brief chase,
