Rochester Police are investigating the shooting of a 26-year-old city man on Monday afternoon.
Police say the victim was shot outside 176 Lincoln Street. He was hit in the lower body and taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he’s expected to recover.
Police continue to investigate the shooting of Lewis Puryear, shot to death at about 4:00 Sunday morning in front of 233 Orchard Street. Another man went to Strong Memorial Hospital with minor injuries that police say are related to the Puryear shooting.
The deceased is the nephew of the Reverend Lewis Stewart, head of United Christian Leadership Ministry. Stewart says this emphasizes the need to do something to halt the scourge of gun violence in Rochester.
