A Rochester man whose car crashed into another vehicle during a police chase had pled guilty to charges of Second Degree Manslaughter for causing the death of the other driver.

27-year-old Kendre Preston was fleeing from police after he was seen firing shots at another car at Lyell and Dewey Avenues in Rochester. Police pulled Preston over, but he quickly drove off at high speed, running numerous red lights until crashing into the second car on the East Side.

A loaded pistol was found in Preston’s car and the defendant was determined to be drunk. The victim, Benjie Martinez, was following the traffic signals when he was struck and killed.

Preston will be sentenced in July.
