Federal prosecutors say a Rochester man has pleaded guilty to running a visa fraud scheme that allowed Indian National to enter the United States on false papers.

Anjaneyulo Katam was accused of forging immigration documents between 2011 and 2017, allowing Indian citizens to work in U.S tech industries involving computer programming. Prosecutors say he manipulated the H-1B Visa Program which allows U.S. companies to temporarily employ foreign workers in specialty jobs.

Federal agents seized strip malls and bank accounts Katam bought using the proceeds of his scheme. He will forfeit more than $1 million to the federal government.
