Federal prosecutors say a Rochester man pleaded guilty to charges of drug possession and of possessing a gun although he’s a convicted felon.
They say 28-year-old Phillip Taylor of Rochester was a two-time convicted felon when Rochester Police spotted him dropping a handgun in a parking lot off Anderson Avenue, then driving off when officers tried to speak with him.
Taylor drove his car at one of the officers, missing him by inches as he drove away. He also hit a building as he sped out of the parking lot. Officers gave chase, and Taylor hit a tree on College Avenue. He then fled on foot until officers ran him down.
Taylor was searched and police found a loaded gun, more than $700 in cash and 12 vials of cocaine in his pockets.
He’ll be sentenced on September 4th.
