A Rochester man is facing a host of charges after he crashed a stolen car while trying to get away from Greece Police investigators over the weekend.
Greece investigators tracking a car stolen from the town last week spotted it in a parking lot at Murray Street and Lyell Avenue. A woman whom police say didn’t know the car was stolen was strapping her two-year-old into the back seat. Before the mother could get in the car, suspect Michael Jackson noticed the approaching police officers, jumped in the car and sped off with the child in back.
Jackson drove the wrong way on Smith Street and out onto Lake Avenue, where he crashed into another car. He jumped out and ran, cut was caught after a brief chase on foot.
The two-year-old and the people in the car Jackson crashed into weren’t injured.
Jackson has been charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property and numerous traffic violations including driving without a license.
