A Rochester man who beat his mother with a hammer and left her for dead has been found guilty of attempted murder and assault.

The District Attorney’s Office says 31-year-old Julian Clinkscales entered his mother’s home on Plant Street in Rochester nearly two years ago and threatened to kill her. When she fled, he struck her in the head with a hammer and left her unconscious.

She survived, but suffered multiple skull fractures and had to be placed in an artificial coma.

Clinkscales fled to Ohio, where he was caught and extradited to Rochester.

He faces a minimum of five to 25 years in prison for each of the two charges when he is sentenced.
