Federal prosecutors say a Rochester man has been arrested on charges of submitting false claims to the Internal Revenue Service.
Eugene Jamar Thomas, 42, is accused of falsely reporting income and withholdings to the IRS, claiming millions of dollars in tax refunds. He was paid more than $482,000 in a refund on his 2015 tax return, and claimed nearly $2.7 million in a refund the following year. The IRS said he was due neither, and ordered him to return the $482,000, which he did not do.
Thomas was arraigned in federal court and released on his own recognizance.
