Livingston County Deputies and Geneseo Police have arrested at least one of the people who’ve been trying to pass theatrical money as legitimate currency.
Livingston County Sheriff Tom Dougherty says a Rochester man has been charged with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument and Scheming to Defraud. He says 27-year-old Saad Mohamed passed a fake $100 bill at a Geneseo gas station and was apprehended by police while still in the store. After questioning Mohamed, they found he’d done the same thing at the Dollar General Store in York. Both fake $100s were recovered and turned out to be theatrical or stage cash.
Mohamed was arraigned in Geneseo Court. He’s currently free on $1,500 bail.
