A Rochester man has been charged with arson, insurance fraud and falsifying business records after setting fire to his leased car in order to claim the insurance money.
Geneseo Police say 45-year-old David Large allegedly set a fire on the passenger’s side of the car, causing it to go up in flames on Bank Street in the village back in August. The vehicle was a total loss. He then filed a false insurance claim. At the same time, Large allegedly faked his employer’s checks to steal money and falsified the entries in his company’s payroll system to give himself a $200 a week raise.
All of these crimes took place from June to August.
Large is being held on $7,500 bail.
