A Rochester man has been arrested for misusing Medicaid to obtain and sell prescription painkillers.
The New York State Attorney General’s Office says Ronald Lockwood illegally filled and sold prescriptions billed to Medicaid worth more than $12,000 for 12,500 Oxycodone pills. The 44-year-old Rochester man then sold those opioid pills to drug dealers in the Rochester area. An investigation by police and the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Unit uncovered his scheme. He was charged in Greece Court with grand larceny and with criminal possession and sale of a controlled substance. He’s facing a nine year prison term if convicted.
Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says an anonymous letter triggered their investigation into Lockwood.
