Rochester Police surrounded a house in the 500 block of Smith Street this morning after a parolee’s mother told police he was acting strangely and might have a gun.
Deputy Chief Scott Peters says the incident began at about 3:45 a.m, and police notified residents of some nearby houses to shelter in place while they tried to resolve the situation. He says 28-year-old Ronald Williams didn’t want to talk with them, but surrendered once a SWAT team went to the door.
Police have charged Williams with Criminal Possession of a Weapon…and Criminal Possession of a firearm, and parole authorities are charging him with a violation.
