The City of Rochester has launched a “Positive Ticket Program,” handing out rewards to citizens police see doing the right thing.
Officers who see people doing good deeds like helping carry a neighbor’s groceries or helping with yard work could get an instant citation with a coupon for food or a fun activity provided by community sponsors.
A positive ticket patrol hit the streets this afternoon in the Beechwood area, walking neighborhood streets around the Ryan R-Center.
Mayor Lovely Warren says she’s backing this because it’s an opportunity for citizens to have more positive interactions with police officers and it’s a good example of community policing.
