Two Rochester men have been arrested for kidnapping a woman over the weekend and threatening to kill her unless her boyfriend met their demands.

Police say they learned on Saturday night about a possible kidnapping and of a woman being held for ransom. They contacted the boyfriend and then worked to identify the suspects and rescue the woman.

Police spotted a car they were looking for on Augustine Street. A chase began when the driver refused orders to pull over. The car crashed into two parked cars on Ridgeway Avenue, with the suspects taken into custody as they fled on foot.

Charged with first degree kidnapping were Isaiah Nesmith and Anthony Wiggins, both 27 years old. One was bitten by an RPD K-9 unit dog during the chase. The victim was found safe inside the crashed car.

Police say she had been forcibly taken from her home and was being driven around the city while the suspects demanded money for her release.
