Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren has sworn in the city’s new interim police chief, Cynthia Herriot-Sullivan. The interim chief will lead the department while the search for a permanent chief goes on.
Sullivan, who retired as a high-ranking officer before joining the Rochester Housing Authority, was brought back to the department by the mayor’s officer. She said as a leader, she couldn’t turn her head away and go about her business during the recent disruptions in the department and the firing of Chief La’Ron Singletary.
Herriot-Sullivan is the first woman to head the RPD.
