The average price for a gallon of gasoline across the Rochester region jumped by ten cents over the last week as gas prices continue to surge nationally.
Rochester’s average is now $3.03 per gallon. Buffalo is up six cents at $2.96 and Syracuse is up eight cents at $3.08.
The New York State average is now $3.07, up seven cents over the past week.
The return of three-dollar-plus gasoline is courtesy of a couple of factors: rising crude oil prices, the federally-mandated switch to summer blend gasoline and strong gasoline demand. Prices are forecast to keep climbing into Memorial Day.
