Rochester police say a city 15-year-old is recovering after being shot late last night in the area of West Main and Henion Streets.

The city’s Shot Spotter system went off about 11:40 p.m., sending police to look for evidence of gunfire. They found it, and also learned that the teen had walked into Strong Memorial Hospital looking for help after being shot in the lower body at that intersection.

Police continue to investigate.

In an unrelated incident, police tried to stop a suspicious car in the area of Marigold Street and Knickerbocker Avenue. When the car pulled over, the occupants jumped out and ran. At the same time, another car driving in front of the car police were targeting also pulled over, and its occupants jumped out and ran.

Both cars turned out to be stolen and were recovered, but the thieves got away.
