Long-time New York State Senator Joe Robach says he won’t seek re-election in 2020.
Robach represents the 56th District, covering parts of Rochester, Greece, Gates, Hamlin, Parma, Clarkson and Brighton. He’s served in the New York State legislature since 1991, first in the State Assembly and then in the Senate after a shift from the Democratic to the Republican party.
In a video released Wednesday morning, Robach says he’s had the chance to accomplish much, meet many people and assist many others through his tenure. But Robach says he can’t stomach what he calls the “divisive New York City Politics that have engulfed everything in the State Capitol.”
Robach says any State Senator from the Rochester region must be willing to stand up to “the New York City power brokers that now control our State Capitol.”
