The Rochester Institute of Technology’s Board of Trustees has named the university’s 10th president: David C. Munson Jr, currently the Dean of Engineering at the University of Michigan. Munson is 64, and will take over when current President Bill Destler retires at the end of June.
Dr. Munson grew up in Iowa, Ohio and Delaware, played saxophone in a marching band and was an Eagle Scout. More recently, he became an electrical and computer engineer, teaching at the University of Illinois and then the University of Michigan.
He served two terms as Dean of the U-Mich engineering school, one of the world’s top schools of engineering.
