The owners of the Rochester Rhinos soccer team say the franchise will take a one-year “hiatus,” while they continue to manage Capelli Sport Stadium in Rochester.
Dave and Wendy Dworkin announced earlier this week that they were far behind in raising $1.3 million needed to let them sign players to 2018 contracts and operate the team next year. They announced this afternoon that they’ll sit out the coming season while they try to raise the funds to stage a comeback.
The Dworkins say Capelli Sport Stadium will host several regular-season USL games in Rochester and the Junior Rhinos Youth Soccer Program will continue. Fans who bought season tickets will get full refunds beginning December 5th.
Fans who ordered 2018 Rhinos season tickets will have their purchases refunded in full beginning Dec. 5.
