Samuel Edoung-Biyo joins the Rhinos after attending open tryout back in December.
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Samuel Edoung-Biyo makes his professional debut with the Rochester Rhinos this season, after finishing his collegiate soccer at Sewanee back in 2012.
The midfielder scored 12 goals and had 5 assists in 70 matches over four years and earned 1st-team all-conference honors in 2012. Edoung-Biyo is the Head Coach for the U18 Empire United boys soccer team locally.
“Sammy is a pleasant surprise,” said coach Bob Lilley. “He came in through our open tryout back in December, then an invite tryout in January. He came into preseason and worked hard to make the roster. He can play a few different positions and he’s a good athlete that has a great physical presence. We think he’ll be able to contribute and play his part this year.”
The Rhinos home opener is on Saturday, April 22 when the defending USL Cup champion New York Red Bulls II visit Capelli Sport Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6:05 pm. Gates open 2 hours prior to each game, where fans can enjoy $2 Genesee happy hour drafts until 15 minutes before kickoff.
