Rochester will face the New York Red Bulls 2 on Saturday evening.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The current USL defending champions will take on the new regular season champions on Saturday at 5:50 pm at Rochester Rhinos Stadium. The Rochester Rhinos will face the New York Red Bulls 2, who with their win over the Harrisburg City Islanders on Wednesday night, sealed their position at the top of the table.

The match will be live on the USL Match Center.

The New York Red Bulls 2 moved out of reach of Louisville City FC with their seventh consecutive win. The victory also tied the USL record for most wins in a season with 19. The team is breaking records elsewhere, setting a new high for wins on the road, something that the Rhinos should be concerned with heading into Saturday’s match. The Red Bulls 2 have only been in the USL two season now, and their balance of a strong attack and a tough defense has been difficult to beat all season.

Saturday’s match is presented by the University of Rochester Medical Center. Fans will enjoy a 2016 team photo giveaway courtesy of URMC.

Rochester has been up to the challenge however. This will be the team’s third meeting this season but it’s first on the Rhinos home turf. Both of their previous meetings ended in 0-0 draws at Red Bull Arena. In their last meeting on July 2, New York was lucky to walk away with a draw. Rochester dominated most of the game, and challenged the Red Bulls II style of play causing them to make mistakes. Both Kenardo Forbes and Christian Volesky had strong games against the team, and should be players to watch at home this weekend.

Christian Volesky enters the match Saturday on two game goal streak, his third of the season. The forward has scored a goal in four of the Rhinos last six matches, coming into his own and connecting with teammates in the latter half of the season. His ten goals so far add two to his season total from last year with three games left to play.

The Rhinos should be happy to return home after a 3-game road trip. Their last match at home was a rainy 3-0 victory of the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. The Rhinos have only lost at home twice this year, falling to the Richmond Kickers and Louisville City FC, two teams that are playoff bound.

The Rhinos are celebrating Irish Night on Saturday as well. For just $15, fans can enjoy a ticket to the match and a beverage.
