Rochester currently is riding an 8-match USL unbeaten streak.
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Rhinos will face Orlando City B on Friday, June 23 for the second time in a 16-day span. Kickoff is set for 7:05 pm at Capelli Sport Stadium.
The two teams drew 1-1 in Orlando on June 7, with Antonio Correia scoring just two minutes after Monroe Community College-grad Hadji Barry opened the scoring for the Lions in the 23rd minute.
This is the fourth all-time appearance between the two clubs, with OCB leading the series 1-0-2. OCB won the first meeting 2-1, while the two teams played to a scoreless draw in Rochester at the end of last season.
The Rhinos come in as one of just four USL teams remaining with one loss or less (5-1-5), and comes into Friday’s match on an 8-match league unbeaten run after defeating Ottawa at home 1-0. They currently sit 4th in the USL Eastern Conference with games in hand.
Orlando continues their road trip after losing 1-0 in Ottawa early on Tuesday to drop their record to 4-6-4. They sit in 10th in the USL Eastern Conference and are on a poor run of form lately, winning just once and scoring just four times in their last five matches (1-3-1).
2016 USL Golden Glove winner Tomas Gomez is a strong candidate for back-to-back honors, earning his 5th clean sheet of the season in last Saturday’s victory over Ottawa, good for 2nd in the USL. Gomez is currently undefeated in 10 starts (5-0-5) with a 0.50 GAA.
Hadji Barry has been the strongest Lion in attack with 3 goals in only 5 appearances, with Pierre Da Silva contributing 5 assists.
CDM Wal Fall leads the Rhinos with 3 goals, 76 duels won and 23 tackles. Fellow CDM and captain Kenardo Forbes has contributed 3 assists and has created a team-high 18 chances.
The Rhinos are celebrating “Rhinos Cares Night”, presented by Suncommon.
