Wal Fall scored in the final stoppage time for a 2-2 draw against Wilmington.
A pair of second-half goals enabled the Rochester Rhinos to earn their 7th consecutive tie on the road Saturday night, 2-2, against the Wilmington Hammerheads in North Carolina.
Kendardo Forbes came in as a sub in the second half and in less than a half hour set up both goals.
Christian Volelsky netted his ninth goal of the season in the 77th minute which evened the score at 1-1. The Hammerheads had taken a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute.
The hosts regained the lead in second-half stoppage time, but Forbes set up a Wal Fall header off a corner kick to bag the equalizer before time expired.
Former Pitt goalkeeper Dan Lynd made his professional debut for the Rhinos. A native of Penfield, Lynd signed with Rochester in late April. He was eased into his first pro start Saturday, batting away an easy-to-read shot from Wilmington’s Tom Parratt in the seventh minute at the near right post. Lynd did not face too many chances, but the clean sheet eluded him and the defense late in the opening half. Lynd is the third goalkeeper to man the net for Rochester this year as Adam Grinwis (13 games) and Tomas Gomez (12) have split the duties all season.
Rochester moved to 10-5-11 (41 points) overall to remain in 5th place in the USL Eastern Conference.
This was the second and final regular-season meeting between the two teams. The Rhinos earned a 2-0 win on Aug. 6 at Rhinos Stadium.
