The owners of the Rochester Rhinos are falling short in their effort to raise the $1.3 million they need to save the team.
As the Rhinos held a rally to build public support for the team, owners Dave and Wendy Dworkin said they’ve sold only about one-third of the season tickets they were hoping for…they’re not having any luck finding new corporate sponsors…and no luck convincing Rochester and Monroe County to let them have a share of the county hotel tax.
As it now stands, that deadline won’t be met.
The Dworkins were hoping for $540,000 from the county hotel tax. City Hall and the County say those funds are already allocated for this year, but could be a subject for future talks.
