The windstorm that rolled in following last night’s rain could have been worse, but it’s been bad enough to knock out power to some 32,000 Rochester Gas and Electric and NYSEG customers across the region.
All but a few hundred of those outages were made good during the day on Monday.
Parent company Avangrid says it pre-staged equipment and had utility crews on standby ready to move when the winds hit. They say first priority is to disconnect downed lines so tree crews can move in and clean up fallen limbs, then repair the damaged lines and get customers back in service.
