A call of a person in the Genesee River brought the Rochester Fire Department out in force for a water rescue in downtown Rochester this morning.

A spokesman says about 30 firefighters and ten units were involved in rescuing a 50-year-old woman from the water near the Andrews Street Bridge. She was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital to be checked out and was apparently suffering from hypothermia.

The fire department says it doesn’t know how she got into the river, but police are investigating.
