West Ridge Road was closed early this morning near the Kodak Center by a fire in a commercial building off Ridge on Palm Street.
Fire crews arrived shortly before 4:00 a.m. to find heavy smoke coming from the back of 2 Palm Street, and they located the fire in a bar and restaurant on the first floor. The fire was out in 40 minutes. Nobody was injured, but there was heavy damage to the first floor.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Shortly before the Ridge Road fire, Rochester firefighters had to deal with a house fire at 55 Jefferson Avenue this morning.
Someone passing by noticed the fire and called it in at about 3:30 a.m. A department spokesman says it was on one side of a two-family house. Everyone got out safely and the fire was out within 15 minute
Both the cause of the fire and the amount of damage are under investigation.
