A man who admitted to manslaughter charges in the death of a young woman and her child will serve 20 years in state prison.
Alberto Reyes is a illegal immigrant, and will face deportation once he’s released.
Reyes pleaded guilty on two counts of first degree manslaughter in the deaths of Selena Hidalgo Calderon and her son, Owen Hidalgo Calderon. Both were declared missing in May of 2018. Selena’s remains were found in days; Owen’s were found months later.
Wayne County DA Mike Calarco said Reyes admitted to causing their deaths but has never spoken about how it happened, and there is no direct evidence about how they were killed.
