Three adults, their three children, and their five dogs escaped safely from a burning house on Myrtle Street early Friday morning. The Rochester Fire Department is looking at a space heater as the possible cause of the fire.
FIrefighters were called shortly before 3:00 a.m. and arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the rear of the single-family home. Occupants said they had been alerted by one of their dogs barking and by smoke detectors going off.
There was extensive fire damage to the home. The Red Cross says occupants are staying with family members.
