A construction worker was rescued from beneath a concrete slab at Rochester’s South Avenue Parking Garage Thursday morning.
The worker was using a jackhammer on the 8th floor of the building when the slab fell, trapping him beneath. Co-workers used a forklift to partially raise the slab, and firefighters placed cribbing beneath it. They were then able to lift the slab off the patient and he was taken to the hospital. He’s expected to recover.
No firefighters were injured, and the Fire Department is calling it “truly a team effort.”
