New York has the nation’s 14th largest highway system by mileage…but according to the 22nd Annual Reason Foundation Highway Report, it ranks 45th in terms of highway performance and cost effectiveness.
That’s down from 43rd place last year.
New York has the 13th lowest highway fatality rate. But its bridges rank 47th out of the 50 states and its Interstate pavement condition is 35th. We rank 46th in total highway funding per mile.
