A tall ship will be at the Port of Rochester in Charlotte this weekend, and will be open for tours 10-to-4 through June 28th.
The El Galeon is a replica of a 16th Century Spanish galleon, a type of sailing ship that navigated the world’s oceans for three centuries and linked Spain with the Americas and Asia. They carried Ponce de Leon to Florida, and this particular replica calls St. Augustine, Florida its home port.
The foundation that owns and sails the El Galeon says Spanish galleons were the world’s first globalization.
