The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says human remains found at a home in Parma are presumed to be those of 69-year-old William Mason, missing since May 25.
Deputies say they have identified two persons of interest in what is now being treated as a murder investigation. They have not said who those persons are.
Chief Deputy Michael Fowler said Friday afternoon that what are believed to be human bones were found in the fire pit of Mason’s home on West Ridge Road, where Mason was last seen. The bones have not yet been positively identified.
An intensive search of the property and surrounding land failed to find Mason, whose car was still at his home. Fowler said they quickly learned this was not a normal missing person case. They obtained search warrants for several sites, including one for 592 Trimmer Road which was searched a few days after they searched Mason’s property.
