Long-time Monroe County Republican Party Chairman Bill Reilich is stepping down, and will be replaced by Bill Napier of Brighton.
Reilich said in a Saturday morning news release that he was stepping down, following a meeting with Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo. Reilich said it was time to focus on his job as Supervisor of Greece.
Reilich has been supervisor since July of 2008 and claims a “92 percent success rate” for Republican candidates in local elections.
But the party in recent years lost control of the county clerk and sheriff’s offices, and a major election is coming up as Republican County Exec Dinolfo battles Democratic County Clerk Adam Bello for the top county office.
