People driving to see the solar eclipse have fueled regional increases in gasoline prices over the past week, despite a continued world glut of crude oil.

The national average prices for regular, unleaded gas dropped two cents down to $2.33 a gallon over the last week. The New York average is now $2.47.

The AAA of Western and Central New York says Rochester dropped by a penny to an average $2.41 per gallon, Buffalo is up four cents at $2.43 and Syracuse went down two cents at $2.37.

The Energy Information Institute says U.S. gasoline production is at the highest level in two years but demand continued to grow over the past week.
