Jake Noll paces Rochester with 3 hits in the 6-2 victory over the S-Mets.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Jake Noll had three hits including a double, two RBI, and a run scored as the Rochester Red Wings won the series finale over the Syracuse Mets, 6-2, Sunday afternoon.
Sean Nolin allowed two runs over 5.1 innings and the bullpen duo of Nick Goody and Gabe Klobosits fired 3.2 scoreless frames to secure the victory.
The Red Wings (27-37) opened the scoring in the 3rd inning. Leadoff hitter Ali Castillo singled with two outs, stole second base, and scored on an Adrian Sanchez RBI double. Noll followed with a single to score Sanchez.
Rochester added to its lead in the 5th inning as Carlos Tocci walked, was sacrificed to second base, advanced to third on a balk, and scored on Castillo’s ground out to make it 3-0.
The Mets (23-42) scored twice in the 6th against Nolin to cut their deficit to 3-2 but Goody stranded the tying and go-ahead runs on base.
The Wings scored three in the 8th on a Noll RBI double to plate Castillo and a two-run homer from Daniel Palka to open a 6-2 lead.
Syracuse had two on with nobody out and loaded the bases with two outs without a hit in the 9th but Klobosits got Albert Almora, the tying run, to pop out to end the game.
Rochester starts a six-game series at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday, July 20 at 7:05 p.m. The Red Wings return home for a 12-game homestand on Tuesday, July 27.
